Description
This pencil control practice sheet is designed to help students in grades 2–5 get their hands and eyes ready for writing! Completing these fun and focused tracing activities helps warm up the small muscles in the hands and fingers while also strengthening visual motor skills — the coordination between what the eyes see and how the hands move.
By practicing controlled lines, curves, shapes, and patterns, students improve their pencil grip, fine motor precision, and ability to stay within lines — all important foundations for neat and legible handwriting. Use this sheet as a warm-up before writing tasks or anytime extra practice is needed to boost confidence and coordination.
Tip for Teachers & Parents:
Encourage students to use a proper pencil grip, with their forearms on the desk, sit with their feet flat on the floor and their backs supported, and move slowly and mindfully through each activity. Pencil control takes practice, so remind students to take their time and focus on accuracy over speed.
